Welcome to the Shore Tern Realty  website and the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina.  We specialize in property sales.  Our market area stretches from Corolla to South Nags Head.  However, we have been most active in Southern Shores, Duck and Kitty Hawk.  I became a real estate broker in 1994.   Over the next eight years, I worked at four large companies.  I learned a lot at each company.  I learned what worked well and what didn’t.  We started our company in November, 2002.  Our company consists of me and my wife Judy and we work from our home.  Many tried to discourage me.  They said that an individual broker working from home would fail miserably.  Since November, 2002, I have sold more than $60,000,000 (sixty million) worth of real estate.

If you are thinking about selling your property, I will bring you relevant comparable sales in your area.  In this way you will have a better understanding of the true market value of your property.  I set up several facets which are quite different from what other brokerages provide.

If you are considering buying a property, I will spend a few introductory hours with you so we can get to know each other a little bit.  To work most effectively with you as a buyer, I will expect you to sign me up as your buyer’s agent.  Then I can “birddog” the whole spectrum of listings for you.  Also, when I know of folks who are thinking about selling, but haven’t decided quite yet, I can go to them as your formal representative.  I have done this successfully a number of times.

People may be a little hesitant about approaching a one agent outfit working from home.  There are advantages.  I answer my phone day or night seven days a week.  I can call you at night after your work day is done.   Many have found this very convenient.  I do keep my clients fully posted on any activity.  We can relax in the living room and discuss anything you have in mind.

If you list with us, your property goes immediately into the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), our website and websites such as realtor.com and even Zillow.  We also market your property by sending out informative color postcards to the appropriate area of the Outer Banks.  Complete and informative sales packages are placed in your home of the immediate use of showing agents and their prospective buyers.

If you are a buyer, I will assist you in becoming prequalified by a lender.  Then we will take a broad brush approach to the various areas of the Outer Banks.  We will then focus in on the areas you prefer.  Next we will start looking at individual properties you find most interesting.

I don’t like, or use, high pressure tactics.  I see myself as an educator about the pluses and minuses of each property and the current market.  A property that is in good shape and is priced correctly will basically sell itself.  I provide all of the material and interesting facts about the property, assist in negotiations and make sure the sales contract is carried through to completion.

Many wonderful treasured friends were originally my real estate clients.  For me, that’s the real payoff.
